The Organic Pharmacy’s Carrot Butter Cleanser: It’s a Best-Seller for a Reason…

I knew that as soon as Dominyka began writing her Green Report, my bank balance would suffer…

Last month, Dominyka waxed lyrical about this Carrot Butter Cleanser by the Organic Pharmacy.

There’s an Organic Pharmacy shop on Great Marlborough Street, just outside Oxford Circus tube. Whenever I have a casting at Bauer Media (and over the last 15 years there have been many) and I’m too early (basically every time) I like to peruse this shop. It’s full of my favourite scents: jasmine, rose, neroli, lavender…I like to just walk around sniffing until I feel like maybe I look rather odd and should probably walk out of the shop.

I’ve tried their Rose & Jasmine Body Oil and it was divine. I’m waiting for a money job (come on commercials book me) so I can treat myself to their Jasmine perfume. I’ve been lucky enough to try their oft-raved-about Carrot Butter Cleanser and I’m a total convert. The product is beloved by celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Demi Moore and Sarah Jessica Parker – Kylie Minogue said she can’t live without it! So I’m in good company.

Upon opening the heavy glass jar you’ll see a very set balm, and I use a little plastic spoon I got with another cleanser (cheeky) to get some out. You only need a small amount and as soon as you rub it between your fingers to warm it, the balm gets lovely and soft and unleashing the scent of rosemary, lavender and a hint of cocoa. The main ingredients are sunflower oil, which is incredible for healing skin, jojoba which I am always raving about for its ability to be absorbed deep past the epidermis and Shea butter, which is a brilliant for hydration.

I hope I’m not boring you all when I go on about massaging these products into your face but it’s the best! It helps boost circulation and help you get a radiant complexion, whilst ensuring all your make up and the grime of the day comes off with the Carrot Butter Cleanser. If there was no make up of SPF on my skin to start with*, I’ll put this on, have a nice bath and let all those ingredients work their magic for a while, as well as relaxing to the scents of lavender and chamomile. That or sit in the infra-red sauna at Triyoga smelling delightful and treating my skin.

Remove with a hot muslin cloth and follow up with a toner, serum and moisturiser for super-duper clean and glowing skin.

Now it’s pricey! It’s £39.95 for 75ml, which I know is a bit more than I usually review on here. However the way to think of it is: this is a product made with techy, medical-grade natural ingredients and it’s formulated for an incredibly effective, gentle and nourishing cleanse. I certainly think it’s value for money.

*If there is make up or SPF, I’ll use a Micellar water first in order to double cleanse.
