Modeltypeface, Wiz Zees Raw Cacao You Are Spoiling Uzz….
My name is Rebecca Pearson and I’m a chocoholic. I like to pretend that I’m a classy chocolate fan – I can enjoy an 85% fancy pants £3 bar of chocolate, or pretend that I get enjoyment from a £5 raw chocolate bar consisting of three pieces.
You know what else I really, really like?
Cheap pick n mix chocolate…
I’ve even been known to gaze longingly at the ultimate in crap chocolate….WHITE CHOCOLATE
I have to really watch my sugar consumption, because it is terrible for skin, figure, cellulite and overall health. We should all cut down – but it ain’t easy when it tastes so good!
Thankfully for this chocoholic, I met Karla Devine, who was at the same agency with me until she left modelling for a career that stimulated her mind and paid her regularly…(madness I know). Here she is looking hot…
What is Raw Cacao?
Karla introduced me to raw cacao with a smoothie recipe that I’m gonna put below. But firstly a little bit on the wonder stuff. So raw cacao is the broken down cacao bean, left unheated (cocoa, on the other hand, has been heated) – you can get cacao nibs (like bitter chocolate chips) or powder. In their pure form, they’re an acquired taste as they’re very bitter (personally I do like bitter).
Raw cacao is very good for you. It’s rich in good fats, anti oxidants, magnesium, calcium, protein and the vitamins B and C so it”s wonderful for skin as well as bones and wellness. Chocolate is a well known aphrodisiac – and, as it contains seratonine – it really does help release a feeling of wellbeing!
Lastly, raw cacao is a stimulant. Seriously. If, like me, you like coffee but it makes you anxious and hungry, this is your new espresso! I once made the mistake of having a coffee and then this smoothie and i felt like I was travelling through the stars at speed. I also tried making a hot chocolate with it before bed and wanted to you on a 5k sprint instead of slumbering. So do be careful of consuming too much, as it’s strong and some reports claim that it can be bad for your liver – it’s best to err on the side of caution.
Anyway – I have this smoothie around 3 times a week and I love it. CHOCOLATE BANANA MILKSHAKE FOR BREAKFAST! It’s adapted from Karla’s original recipe and feel free to play around with it yourself. For example I like making it fiery with some ginger during winter, and I only use honey if I use avocado instead of banana.
1 cup milk (I use Koko milk)
1dessert spoon raw cacao
1/2 cup oats (optional)
1 banana OR 1 avocado (I tried using both once, and ended up with greige sludge)
A squeeze of agave/raw honey if you feel it needs sweetener – I often don’t
1/2 tsp chlorella
Handful of ice
1 spoonful coconut oil (optional)
Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Knob (hehe) of ginger (optional)
Whizz up in a blender and enjoy for breakfast!
