#ModelCrushMonday: Rosalind Jana
Rosalind Jana is my #ModelCrushMonday because she is principled, passionate and fiercely intelligent…all of this going on beneath a wild, fuzzy halo of hair, porcelain skin and a face that wouldn’t look amiss in a pre-Raphaelite painting.
It was this shoot that inspired me to write this post. I’ve known Rosalind for a couple of years now and admired her writing, along with her personal rule of never wearing clothes unless they are vintage or sustainable from the off – but I’ve also seen her develop in confidence in front of the camera.
This is a shoot for Tirade Magazine (also featuring an article by Jana) wearing clothes from charity shops. I love all the different characters and moves she manages to pull off – helped I’m sure by her voracious reading of books.
I am passionate about Fair Trade, and as an ambassador for People Tree I do spread the word of ethical fashion as much as possible. Yet I do shoot for lots of high street brands and for magazines that use high street. Rosalind, on the other hand, truly sticks to her principles and is making her way as a model and writer by being totally herself. That’s hard to do in any career but especially modelling, so I respect her strength and courage in saying no to companies that don’t fit with her beliefs.
Lastly, Rosalind Jana is my #ModelCrushMonday because I like following her on Instagram, admiring her wild and wistful pictures and feeling like I’m mates with Kate Bush!
Rosalind will be going far, I can feel it in my bones.
