#ModelCrushMonday: Issa Lish
Wow! What an incredibly-faced #ModelCrush Monday I’m celebrating today! Half Japanese and Half Mexican, Issa was scouted whilst waiting tables in her father’s sushi restaurant at the age of 14 – being punished for getting bad grades.
I suppose that turned out to be the best, most fruitful punishment ever! Covers so far include Italian, Mexican and Japanese Vogue and runways for Prada and Céline.
Everything about Issa is long and languid, from her hair to her face shape to the lines she creates when she models. There’s something very cool and laidback about her style of modelling – sort of less-is-more – and with a face like Issa’s you don’t have to work your bone structure or angles. It’s all there, from every inflection.
I just really like Issa’s face. It’s unusual and epic and quiet and sleepy and enchanting. I think she’ll just carry on booking campaigns for years to come because that’s the sort of face (and body) that the high fashion clients and photographers are unendingly entranced by (see also: Erin O’Connor, Karen Elson, Jamie Bochart).
Issa is at Muse NY.
