My name’s Rebecca Pearson, a model and writer from London. I started Modeltypeface as a safe place for other models to come to, to benefit from my very own insider’s knowledge of the industry.
I’ve always found that models feel comfortable asking me questions they feel afraid to ask their bookers, questions such as:
“When am I going to get paid?”
“What size should I be and how do I maintain this body healthily?”
“How do I stand out from everyone else?”
It can be a vulnerable place to be in, one which many non-models can relate to as well. I wanted to empower anyone in this position by creating a platform where they can learn and share information, and through doing this I’ve talked about body image with Eamonn Holmes on TV, appeared on the BBC News and written about the subject in The Sunday Telegraph and Wonder Women.
My modelling has taken me worldwide and I’ve worked for prestigious clients such as Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and iD, though now I’m much more commercial, which suits me! I’m at Bookings Models, and Igor looks after me.
My very first ambitions were to be an RSPCA Inspector or a social worker. Whilst I may have gone down a very different path, modelling’s allowed me to get involved with helping the planet and other people through fashion. I’m now an Ambassador for People Tree, the Fair Trade clothing company, and working at Friends of the Earth as ‘Model and Bee Activist’!
I’m always happy to create original content for brands, publications and fellow bloggers, as well as being available for public speaking.
